Very cool Kelly. I used to use Stevia when it was first available in a pure form until it was pulled from the shelves.. Think I'll be heading to the Boulder Farmers Market to get a plant this weekend. :-)
James, I didn't see any stevia at Boulder farmers market last weekend—they may not be available yet. I saw them there some time last summer. You could use seeds to start your own though. That's what we did =)
I also adore SweetLeaf. Ever since I tried my first 4 oz bottle (which broke by the way--sometimes I am so clumsy with expensive things), I was hooked!
Sometime I would like to try the different flavors. One of these days. Thanks for the video; I love them! You have actually inspired me to do videos for my blog, as well.
Thanks Brandon! I look forward to your videos and love your blog. The flavored SweetLeaf liquids are my absolute favorite. I'm sure you will love them too =)
Man, I use like 14 drops in my large tumbler of tea. I must have a sweet tooth!
I'm assuming that because agave was not mentioned in your video that you are getting away from using it. As you adapt your recipes to leave it out, will you post them? Do you think that honey or coconut sugar can replace it if using the same measurement?
i've just come across your blog for the first time and am very impressed! i love using beans in place of grains and can't wait to try your recipes, but i do not have any flavored stevia drops. i'm on a very limited budget and they are very expensive so i'll need to save up before i can even think of ordering them. so are your recipes completely off limits for me until then? can i use any kind of sugar or just plain powdered stevia (which i DO have)? i was hoping to make your custard recipe sooner rather than later. since needing to go dairy and gluten free 7 years ago, i haven't even LOOKED at a custard.
You're welcome =) I'm guessing a drop of liquid is equal to a tiny pinch of powder. Probably 1/4 tsp of liquid is equal slightly less than 1/2 tsp powder. That's just a rough estimate =)
i just realized that one can buy organic green stevia leaf powder, which is just the leaves dried. It's not processed like the white powders and the liquids are. This stuff is green and is the whole food!
Can I sub something else besides stevia? I absolutely cannot stand it, and yes I have tried a lot of high quality organic brands. I've also tried both the powder and the liquid. No matter what, I still get a horrible aftertaste.

I loved your farmer's market post!
Thanks Kelli! I only used agave in maybe 5 of my cookbook or blog recipes, but as I make them without agave I will definitely post them.
There are two recipes that I have modified here on the blog, because they were a little sweet for me. They are my banana bread and almond muffins.
Also, I do think honey and coconut sugar (or even applesauce, but that wouldn't be as sweet) can be substituted for agave.
Cheers, Kelly
I enjoy using SweetLeaf's flavored liquids, too! They're great!

Thanks Christina! Unflavored or powdered stevia will work fine too =)
thanks so much for your response! how much powdered stevia equates to a drop of the flavored?

Oh I've just found that I can buy SweetLeaf Liquid stevia in Australia. YAY I will be able to try this now!

Which is better, the SweetLeaf Whole Leaf Stevia Concentrate or SweetLeaf Stevia Clear Liquid Stevia?

So can I aub xylitol?
Can xylitol be used instead of stevia in these recipes?
I have tried numerous organic brands of stevia, in both liquid and powder form, yet I still detest it.
